Why have a doctors surgery when the receptionist knows what's wrong with everyone, she managed to diagnose and cure me within a 30 second phone call maybe just answer the phone and take appointments in the future or until they start giving PHD's to receptionists.

Absolutely shocking. Wish I could have stayed with my doctors in Newton Aycliffe! They say ring at 8:30 for an appointment but at 8:31 they have no appointments. Phone rings constantly till you give up. Appointments booked with a doctor are with a nurse who says yes you need to see a doctor ring up tomorrow to see one?!? Reception team are so rude and ignorant and seem to think they are god, trust me hun the dog muck out side gives me more respect. Takes over a week for them to realise my repeat meds. They take bloods then say they’ll get in contact then after a couple weeks they say it’s your responsibility to phone back up even thou they say they will ring. I suffer with seizures and they passed it off as hunger pains?!? 3 weeks later admitted into hospital and diagnosed with FND. Absolutely useless! They can’t tell the difference between their elbow and behind.

Had problems with my towns GPs who just treated me as a disabled lady as a burden, everything has been amazing since moving to Hallgarth over the last few years. Kind and helpful staff and I appreciate how they're respectful and patient. Appreciate this DRs so much!

Appointments are difficult to get and you usually never see who your were told you were going to see. And when you do get down there, the waiting room is usually empty, no appointments available, huh? And yes, they will just suggest 111 when you can't get an appointment. If you have anything on your record that they should know prior to appointment or calling you up to practically demand you come down for review, they will ignore your wishes. You can tell them you don't want reviews but they will ask for one anyway. Prescription line is rarely answered anymore, you have to leave your details and prescription items and pray they processed them correctly. Far too often they get them wrong, meaning they casually waste NHS time, money and resources without a single regret. The pharmacist there also needs investigating or taken down a peg, she is far too involved with prescriptions, making changes without patient knowledge or asking and then demanding you to come down and see her about it and then you never see her, she will flog you off to a nurse instead. Beware of her big time, far too meddling for her own good! The reception staff will indeed happily gossip for a spell before letting you in or ask why you are here and I don't care for the ones who look over the receptionists shoulder when you are setting up appointments etc, we are entitled to some privacy and your casual curiosity is not welcome. Some of them down there legitimately do not know how to use the phones, how were they even allowed to be hired? And if that is the level of competency you can expect from someone handling the phones, then let that set the standard for the rest of the staff there. Do yourself a favour and use another surgery, it may be more difficult to do so but surely they cannot be any worse than this lot?

If I could have 0 stars I would No resident doctors totally ran on locum who refuse to see patients. Poorly managed and good luck getting any kind of appointment in any way shape or form. They emply verbally abusive doctors. Lastly if you need to order anything from a sick note to a prescription be prepared to wait 6 days.

Terrible place would advise against going to this doctors at all costs. Appalling attitudes on phone Rude receptionists Medical neglect at its best Try ringing for appointment will be told none available try again tomorrow at 8am, or you will get over the phone appointment which is useless and waste of time as most reasons for needing an appointment is to show the doctor not explain as it can be miss read. Family member has had problems with there knees and lower back for past 2 years couldn't get seen physically always over the phone. Always messing her around with her medication, she also had one doctor say she doesn't need the medication and was going to have them taken away until we got a second opinion. 2 yrs on and still hasn't been dealt with due to there medical neglect, moved surgery and now are having tests x-rays and alsorts to find out what's going on with her knees. Absolutely appalling medical practice from reception all the way to the doctors, only ones that are ever any help or don't talk down to you or condescend you are doctors from others surgery's near by. Expect 2hr wait times when phoning, no call backs, 7-10days to get your prescription. Place should be shut down and patients moved to a near by practice that actually care about there patients and there needs.

Far from impressed, we've been with the surgery for over 6 years now and my husband has yet to get to see a doctor, he's always put in with a Nurse Practitioner. I've rung and specified I need to see a Doctor and the same thing, only to be told by the nurse practitioner that I need to see a Doctor with the problem. Last time I had an appointment, I was left waiting outside the door, leaning on my walking stick while the receptionist finished her conversation, I'm assuming she didn't know I could hear from where I was as she said - "oh, she can just wait!" when the woman she was talking to pointed out that I'd been stood for a while! They have recently got a new pharmacist in the practice who, in the first instance, didn't authorize my meds. for me to order online, then had taken a number of them off - including inhalers for asthma, it's taken a couple of weeks and a number of phone calls to get them put back on along with everything else I don't need to order every month. I've rung for advice about returning to work and was given a list of options over the phone and told they'd do a letter if needed - they're now refusing to do the letter for me, do I take the decision that my life is more important than my job now or what?? This is not the first time that they've refused to do this, even if they're charging for it, and it has cost me money. Certainly would not recommend to anyone - go elsewhere, I intend to!!! The star is for the few staff who're helpful.
